David N. Calkins, M.D., is board certified in pain management and anesthesiology. With more than 31 years of pain management experience. Dr. Calkins is on the medical staff at Mimbres Valley Medical Center providing pain management services to Deming, Luna County, and the southwest region of New Mexico.
After 7 years of service Army Major and Instructor Pilot, David N. Calkins, United States Navy retired in 1985 to apply to medical school at the University of New Mexico.
Dr. Calkins graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 1990, then went on to complete an internship in family practice as well as Aerospace medicine Officer Training at the Naval aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola Florida. He then completed his residency in Anesthesia at the University of California at San Francisco.
Dr. Calkins served as a U.S. Navy physician, Fleet Hospital Five (Executive Officer and Anesthesiologist) USS Carl Vinson, USS Abraham Lincoln Flight Surgeon and Anesthesiologist, Naval Hospital Bremerton, Washington (Anesthesiologist); Flight Surgeon CTW-1 Meridian Mississippi.
