Thar El Baage, M.D., is a board-certified cardiologist with more than 35 years of clinical experience managing all aspects of invasive cardiology, in both outpatient and inpatient settings, and he is now serving Deming, Luna County, and the southwest region of New Mexico. He is also board certified in Internal Medicine.
After receiving his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B. Ch. B.) degree at Baghdad Medical School in Iraq, Dr. El Baage completed a three-year residency through a joint program with the Royal Free Hospital in London and the Riyadh Military Hospital in Saudia Arabia where his rotations included Nephrology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Emergency Medicine, Chest Medicine, Neurology and General Medicine. He then completed a three-year residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, which has a world-renowned cardiac center with a transplant program. He also completed a two-year residency in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan and a three-year fellowship in Pulmonary Critical Care at Wayne State University in Michigan.
During his 35-year career, Dr. El Baage has served as the Chief of Medicine and Director of Post Graduate Training and Senior Consultant Cardiologist at hospitals in Saudi Arabia and was the director of the intensive care unit at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio where he was also on the faculty. He was a member of the Cardiology intensive care faculty at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in La Crosse, Wisconsin and a senior consultant cardiologist and internist for the division of acute care medicine at Sidra, Qatar Hospital which is closely affiliated with Cornell University’s Weill-Cornell Medicine (formerly Cornell University Medical College). Dr. El Baage comes to Mimbres Valley Medical Center from the Adventist Health Care System where he served in the cardiac intensive care unit at White Oaks Hospital in Corpus Christi and Corpus Christi Medical Center’s teaching hospital.
