Katherine Perales is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Perales’ medical career began after she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Western New Mexico University in 2012 and achieved an Associate Degree of Nursing from Western New Mexico University in 2014. While going to school for her nursing degree she started her career caring for the geriatric population and dementia patients in Silver City, NM.

As a Registered Nurse at Mimbres, Perales provided inpatient acute care for the medical-surgical and emergency care departments as she continued her education to become a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner.

While going to school she also worked with Presbyterian Health Care as a Registered Nurse/Care Coordinator developing care plans while overseeing patient education and care coordination through case management transition-of-care for patients who were elderly or disabled.

Perales completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix in 2019 and earned her Master of Science Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix in 2022.

“Working here at home with the community hospital inspired my commitment to continue my education,” said Perales.  “I have had encouragement and oversight from a wonderful group of peers and providers. That continued throughout my service as an RN and my clinical preceptorship and helped me gain the ability to serve patients as a nurse practitioner.  I feel at home in our healthcare community, and I’m excited to continue working with them as I serve the patients of Luna County.”

When Perales isn’t working, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two children, and enjoys camping, photography and traveling to her family home in Panama.
